Hi,

I’ve been able to find 8 character, and 4 character 7 segment led modules that are compatible with simvim. I’ve not been so lucky finding six digit modules. I’m in Australia. Anyone have a link to some?

Thanks

About the only place to sell 6 digit displays complete is robotdyn - -https://robotdyn.com/6-digit-led-display-tube-7-segments-76x19mm-tm1637-red.html..   they sell the 0.56" and the 0.36" sized displays in a variety of colours  however... I am having a problem with multiple TM1637 powered displays that is, as yet, un-resolved...but it may be just  me that has this problem..no one else seems to be complaining...

Another option might be to use a pcb that houses the 3 digit display modules and a max7219.. I have just designed and had  a batch made from JLCPCB...awaiting delivery

I could post the gerber files if they were wanted

Hi @flyingflyn

Thanks for the quick reply.

I have tried to buy from robotdyn”s web site but have been unable to. Maybe it cause I am on an iPad. I’ll try on a pc later.

Very generous to offer the files!  For now, I will attempt to source ready built modules as I think I’d scre up building my own. ;-)

Hi guys.  Same problem.  Trying to build my own.  Is a serious nightmare,  all those wires.  sad  Has anyone tried one of those max 7219 modules where the digits are detachable?  Green ones on Ebay.  Could you substitute in a 3 digit?

Cheers

Got a link to the modules you are talking about?

My guess would be no as the pin assignments change between the 3 and 4 digit displays but without having one to meter out I'm not sure.

I've made several 3 and 4 digit displays myself with max 7219.  Only difference is the 3 Digit has one less pin which is D4 on 4 Digit one.  Rest of pinout is the same.  Interesting to try.  Have some on order so will try when they arrive.

You would have to keep them seperate of course to make a 6 digit display and wire it up.  Still prob easier - less wiring then doing the whole thing yourself.   Just a thought.

You can make any digit size display with Max7219 chip, how to connect - below on this page - http://simvim.com/tech_num.html

But, you can make it using  the convenient LED Matrix MAx7219 module - just connect  the 7-segment indicators instead of led matrix: http://simvim.com/svc_digout.html  (see the "Matrix LED Output" chapter in the middle of the page)

..also, you can use the DM13A drivers - simple connections and any size: http://simvim.com/tech_num.html
